What's New - July 2017
An intriguing mix this month as a fruity scotch ale, coconut porter and a big IPA headline our new additions.
Wolf of the Willows - Raisin' Kilts
Tapping into a beloved dessert flavour combo, Wolf of the Willows have gone for a rum and raisin theme to their latest limited release. A scotch ale aged in Lark Distillery rum casks with sun dried raisins added, to be exact. Expect a focused, tight, balanced take on a scotch ale with notes of dark fruit and toasted oak.
Mountain Goat - Silence of the Rees
Named after and created by Mountain Goat brewer Alana Rees, one of the creative minds behind some of their most successful recent beers (including the award winning Pulped Fiction IPA), SotR is a winter beer with a twist. Starting with a big porter base, they've added a whole lot of toasted coconut along with vanilla beans and cacao to create an intriguing, complex dark beer. Many worry this combination would be too sweet but it's definitely a porter first and foremost, with lovely roast character and a rich body. Waves of dark chocolate flavour present up front, with ripples of toasted, creamy coconut emerging as the beer begins to warm. Very impressive and very appropriate for the current cold snap!
Kaiju - Aftermath Double IPA
Kaiju's much loved hop bomb is now in cans, meaning your hop hit will be even bigger and fresher than before. There's a big, chewy malt backbone but realistically this beer is all about the hops. Waves of citrus, pine resin, pineapple and mango cascade through with strong but balanced bitterness. It clocks in at a fairly hefty 9%, making for a wild ride.
